NEW COMMISSION REGULATION 2020/878 
DRAFTING OF SAFETY DATA SHEETS 

On January 1, 2021, the Commission Regulation 2020/878 entered into force, amending the Annex II of the Commission Regulation 1907/2006.

Main new provisions: 

• Commission Regulation 2018/1881 transposition: indication of substances in nanoforms; 
• Adaptation to the sixth and seventh GHS revision; 
• Indication of the unique formula identifier/provision of UFI code; 
• Hazardal identification: information on substances and mixtures having endocrine disrupting properties;
• Indication of specific concentration limits, multiplying factors and estimates of acute toxicity; 
• Update of Section 9 relating to physical and chemical properties.

BIO BASIC EUROPE is adapting its IT systems to draft Safety Data Sheets compliant with the new requirements of the Regulation. 

Please note that until 31 December 2022, the documents can still be drafted according to the format established by the Commission Regulation 2015/830. After this date, the Safety Data Sheets shall be adapted to the new Regulation. 

FIRST EXPIRY DATE OF THE REGULATION 2017/542 and subsequent amendments:

UFI CODE and CENTRALIZED NOTIFICATION

January 1st is the first deadline imposed by Regulation 2017/542 and subsequent updates. The UFI code on the label and the centralized European notification will be mandatory for the products and mixtures, classified for health and physical hazards, intended for consumers and for professional use.
